The Golf England Fullers Qualifier was played on the Lakes course this weekend and it couldn’t have taken place in worse conditions. Forty to fifty mph winds and heavy rain meant that only one player managed to get under par out of the three divisions. In Division One, ten handicapper Richard Wilson defied the Rutland weather conditions to post a net score of sixty nine which included eleven pars; Richard also won the lowest gross. His name will now go forward to be included in the list of winners of this countrywide competition. The top eighty one scorers will be invited to play at Woodhall Spa in an all expenses paid two day competition in the middle of August. Simon Linnell off eight did well to come in with a level par net seventy two but this was only good enough for second place. Third and fourth places were sorted out on count back after both players came in with a net seventy three. Eight handicapper Neil Lowndes just edged out Peter Bagshaw off nine.
Ali McNaughton took the win and the lowest gross prize with a gross eighty four, net seventy two in Division Two. Club President Martin Boughton was second with a net seventy three and Gary Ferrar took the final place with a net seventy seven.
David Burton playing off twenty won Division Three, he had a net seventy two. Second place and winner of the lowest gross in the division went to Graham Day, he scored a gross ninety, net seventy three. Peter Key and Mark Musgrove were placed third and fourth respectively after both coming in with a net seventy five.
