Greetham Valley’s Seniors in fine golfing form

Greetham Valley’s Seniors continued their fine run of form by halving their match away at Humberstone Heights. They then went on to win at home against Lingdale Golf Club by four and a half to three and a half. Their next game is at home to Whetstone. Captain Peter Macdonald Pearce will be planning his team selection very carefully to try to extend the run.

The Seniors June Medal was played on the Lakes course in much better conditions than were experienced across the whole of Rutland at the weekend. Alan Hodgkinson won division one and the overall medal with a fine net seventy one from David Aldred on count back. Five handicapper Neil Harris took third and the lowest gross with a brilliant seventy seven, whilst Ken Porter was pushed back to fourth on count back.

Dennis Cleggett won division two with a net seventy two from Radley Wardhaugh, Radley also won the lowest gross with a fine ninety two. Twenty two handicapper Peter Morris was third with a seventy four.

Good to see John Sparks visiting the golf club on Tuesday following his serious car accident just a month ago. He looks in fine fettle but the doctors have suggested he shouldn’t attempt a game of golf until next year. This will give other members a chance then in the next Winter League and Winter Order of Merit! We all hope his recovery continues speedily.
