Peter Bagshaw took the win in week eight of Greetham Valley’s Winter Order of Merit; the nine handicapper scored 39 points and just pipped Ted Burke and Steve Anderson who both scored 38 points. Bob Beverley wasn’t in the top three but is still in first place overall and thanks to very steady play, he has increased his lead to be 16 points ahead of Dave Copley in second. Dave in turn is 13 ahead of Stef Dutton. This week saw moves up the table for Neil Harris, Steve Anderson and Michael Fish, while Ted Burke made a major move to go from 31st to 18th. The top ten have over 100 points in the bank but, with 50 points for a win, the placings can change massively with a couple of decent results.
Ray Gladwinfield and Steve Lesiakowski are leading their group with a clean three wins out of three in this year’s Winter League. The pair who have won the Winter League in past years are keen to win again but have stiff competition. Former Captains George Grant and John Sparks also have a clean sheet to lead their group. Semi finalist in the 2010/11 league Scottie Stevenson and new partner Thomas Broom are also leading their group, they also have three wins out of three, as do Peter Dickinson and Peter Smith who are leading theirs.
With only the top team in each group going forward to the quarter final after the seven round initial group stages, it is all to play for.
