Neil Harris won the Seniors’ August Medal competition and the lowest gross with a splendid one over gross 73, net 67. Neil, playing off six was just one over after nine with three bogies and two birdies; he went on to shoot a level par back nine to win division one and was cut to 5. Derek Coombes was second with a net 67. Third place was settled on count back, Brian Rippin took it with a net 68 from Robert Birch and Robert Gray.
Denis Cleggett, who has been trying very hard to get his handicap cut this year, won division two with a net 67 and was rewarded with a cut to 24. Mike Hooper was second with a net 68 pushing Tony King into third on count back.
The Seniors continued their good form in inter Club matches by trouncing visitors Humberstone Heights six games to nil on the Lakes course. Greetham Valley’s Seniors’ Captain Peter Macdonald Pearce said that it was their best all round team performance so far this year and he was absolutely delighted with all the lads!
