Some sun and quite a lot of Rutland rain greeted the competitors as they teed off on Greetham Valley’s Lakes course in week twenty of the Winter Order of Merit. Paul Jenkinson playing in only his third game of the series won with a haul of thirty seven points. The extra hard won point was enough to lift him out of the scrap for places as the three players below him all scored thirty six points and good old countback had to be dragged out of the cupboard, dusted off and employed to sort it out.
Taking second place on count back was multiple winner Fraser Denholm, this moves him back up to second place in the overall table.
Steve Anderson moved up from tenth to eighth by claiming third place, Adam Clegg lost out on countback to the fifty, forty and thirty points for first, second and third but still had a handsome haul of twenty five points for his efforts and retains his top spot with only two rounds to go.
Adam’s lead over Fraser is thirty points and the way Adam is playing, it would take two fantastic rounds from one of his closest competitors to beat him; having said that, anything can happen if golf as we all know! Dave Copley is only seven points behind Fraser in third spot.
Adam really will take some catching but the rest of the top ten places can still change and a good score in the final two weeks could see some of the players just outside of the top ten making a push for honours in the final prize fund.
