We really enjoyed hosting our Wedding Fair at Greetham Valley Hotel in Rutland yesterday – and we hope all the lovely couples browsing among all the exhibitors did too! There was so much to see – the stands were an absolute riot of colour and the atmosphere had a lovely gentle buzz all day.
All our bridal goody bags were claimed – so that was definitely 100 brides-to-be and their intended who brought along mums and dads plus potential best men and bridesmaids!
We now have lots of personal show arounds and appointments arranged over the next few weeks and one bride booked Greetham Valley for 2015 as her wedding venue there and then as soon as she saw the Rutland Suite and it’s gorgeous view. She and her fiancé spent some time sitting out on the sunny balcony with a bottle of chilled wine, enjoying the view…..
She is currently umming and aaahhing about whether to choose Normanton Church as her civil ceremony venue, with a trip back across Rutland Water on the Rutland Belle accompanied by her guests afterwards, with a red double decker bus to provide the transport to Greetham Valley…. decisions, decisions!!
The exhibitors seemed very happy with the level of interest that their beautiful displays were creating, with most of them reporting bookings and appointments made at the Wedding Fair for the coming weeks. They are also looking forward to Greetham Valley’s next Wedding Fair, which will be on Sunday 23rd February 2014 – and yes, that date will come around very quickly – put it in your diary!

Following the success of our first Wedding Menu Taster Evening last Spring, we are looking forward to our next Taster Evening on Thursday 10th October 2013. Many of our Brides and Grooms for the next year have already booked their tables – have you booked yours?
Whether you are still pondering over choices for your wedding breakfast or just looking for an excuse for a night of fine dining and talking weddings, our wedding menu taster evening is an excellent way to experience the first class food and service Greetham Valley offers. Myself and our events team will be on hand throughout the evening to answer any questions you may think of.
On the night you will be welcomed on arrival with a glass of sparkling wine and canapés before moving through to our Lakeview Suite, decorated by local wedding suppliers, for a delicious three course meal complemented by the sounds of Nigel from Beautiful Background Guitar. The menu will feature our most popular wedding dishes for you to choose from on the night.
The cost for this special evening is just £20 per person and Brides and Grooms are very welcome to invite along their parents, bridesmaids, best men etc to enjoy the evening. If you would like to book a table, please email me, phone me on 01780 460444 or speak with us at our Wedding Fair this coming Sunday 29th September. We look forward to welcoming you!

Now that we are well into the swing of the wedding season we are gearing up for our Autumn Wedding Fair which this year falls on Sunday 29th September and will be open from 10am to 3pm. Everyone is welcome and admission is free!
We are very excited to see the return of many of our most popular exhibitors along with a good mix of new faces who have recently discovered Greetham Valley; with only have a few stands left available to book it is shaping up to be yet another very successful day!
Packed with a variety of stands specialising in just about everything you will need for your wedding, we receive compliments from many Brides, saying it’s the best Wedding Fair they’ve been too and they especially like how they can visit all the stands then mull over the ones that were of particular interest with a complimentary tea or coffee before revisiting them with any questions they have!
Our aim is to make it as easy as possible for all our couples to find what they want for their wedding. If you are still in the process of choosing a venue this is a great opportunity to see and speak with us as well as all our suppliers and to get a feel for how we work. See for yourself why we are one of the most popular wedding venues in Rutland! Our link to Normanton Church on Rutland Water for a civil ceremony followed by a wedding reception at Greetham Valley has proved a superb combination, although many brides still choose to have their civil ceremony on-site here at Greetham Valley. Church ceremonies are also gaining momentum again, after a few years of civil weddings being very popular. Even if you have decided on an alternative venue you are still most welcome to come and take a look around!
Why not make a day of it? Whether it is just the Bride and Groom, or if you are bringing the entire bridal party with you, why not stop and take advantage of our fantastic Sunday Carvery served in our Lounge Bar and Restaurant from 12noon to 3pm. Booking is advised but not essential.
We look forward to seeing you then! Really can’t wait? We are delighted to offer personal show rounds to view our lovely wedding venue – do please call Mitch on 01780 460444 to make an appointment or email him email@example.com.

Wedding entertainment does not have to be all about the disco – why not do something a little different?
Depending on how you want the day to feel to your guests, you could have them arrive to the sounds of a classical guitarist, pianist or even a string quartet, or maybe whilst everyone is enjoying drinks on the patio and you are having your photos taken from just about every angle why not entertain them with a close up magician or a caricature artist? Having a giggle at other peoples’ pictures is a great way for your guests to break the ice!
Moving onto your wedding breakfast, why not make the background music more personal? We are happy to play some of your own CDs whilst everyone is eating, alternatively put together a playlist on iPod, mp3 player or tablet which we can also play for you.
Going into the evening, you don’t have to stop at a disco! Many wedding bands will know or learn a special song or two for your big day, perhaps this could be for your first dance? And evening entertainment does not have to be all about music: help the party along with a couple of hours of a fun casino or look after kids of all ages with a sweet table or chocolate fountain.
If you are just starting to consider your entertainment and not sure where to start looking, do let me know; I have an extensive list of contacts for all sorts of entertainment and ideas that I’ll be happy to pass on to you.
Wedding Fairs are also a brilliant font of ideas of themes for entertainment for your guests. The next very popular Greetham Valley Wedding Fair is on Sunday 29 September – put it in your diary now!
The above ideas are just a few things we have had going on at weddings at Greetham Valley in the past and we have many new ideas coming our way this year, which I will tell you about as they happen so as not to ruin the surprises that lay ahead for our brides, grooms and their guests!

One thing that needs a lot of consideration for your wedding is your photos – and choosing the right photographer is vital!
When choosing your photographer, not only do you need to admire their work but you also need to ‘click’ with them; after all they will be a big part of your wedding day and may be with you from before you say ‘I do’ ’til well into the evening!
You may think that there are only so many different ways to take a photo but you would be wrong. We have a wide variety of photographers come to Greetham Valley who all put their own spin on our couples’ big day pictures! If you have been to Greetham Valley you will know that we have some excellent photo opportunities: one that is by far the favourite is when we take the Bride and Groom out on our wedding buggy to an attractive lake on one of the scenic golf courses.
It is worth making a short list of any group photos that you may want on the day, but don’t go mad as you do not want to keep your guests standing around for too long. We find that an hour for photos, drinks and maybe canapés is long enough to get the shots you want without guests beginning to get restless (or tipsy!).
Be sure to meet with and look through your potential photographer’s previous wedding shoots (a good time for this is at our twice yearly in-house wedding fairs – the next one is on Sunday 29th September 2013) before paying any deposits and signing on the dotted line. Why not take a look at our online bridal gallery to see what some photographers tend to do when visiting Greetham Valley?

Sunday 28th October 2012 saw the wedding co-ordinators from Greetham Valley attending the Autumn Cupids Wedding Show at the East of England Showground in Peterborough. The Cupids Show tends to be one of the largest in the East Midlands area and is a fabulous way of bringing our venue to the attention of all those newly engaged couples getting started on organising their big day. The Autumn show was no exception, Mitch and Claire met hundreds of brides-to-be and thoroughly enjoyed the day. There were two fashion shows, goody bags for the first 250 brides, a complimentary glass of bubbly for all visitors, a free prize draw for the bride and groom and a free glossy wedding directory for every bride as well as the competition, which ran from our display stand, to win Sunday Lunch for Two in our Valley Restaurant. With over 50 exhibitors the show was very well attended and hopefully all the brides-to-be found it useful. The day was also a great way of letting people know of our own Wedding Fayres held at Greetham Valley each Spring and Autumn which really showcase our venue and our fantsatic local suppliers! The day was a huge success for us with several new bookings and many more enquiries. Mitch has been very busy with appointments! We are very much looking forward to the next Cupids Show in the Spring, but first we have our own Wedding Fayre at Greetham Valley on Sunday 24th February with 35 exhibitors, 10am to 3pm, free admission, everyone welcome – don’t miss it!

No matter what your wedding theme, at Greetham Valley we have very few restrictions enabling you to decorate the room pretty much however you would like!
Over the last year I have seen many different ideas for table centrepieces, from flowers to cupcakes to musical instruments, many of which have doubled up as either gifts, favours or table names. A lot of couples recently seem to be going for smaller centre table decorations like fishbowls, so that everyone can see over them when talking. If they have not gone small they’ve gone BIG with huge margarita glasses lifting their displays high, again so that everyone can talk without having to lean to one side.
I love seeing all the different ideas that couples come up with. We recently had a wedding that was beach themed, where for their table centres they had fishbowls with sand and a candle in, then on a mirror plate surrounding the bowl they had a selection of seashells.
We’ve had drapes from the ceiling, fairy lights right round the room and bunting along the balcony – but why stop there? Our Rutland Suite is the perfect blank canvas, we prefer to let our glorious Rutland views do the talking and the Bride and Groom plan the decorating!
