Ladies’ Christmas Party

An amazing 65 Greetham Valley Lady members braved the “snow” in their party finery to enjoy a brilliant Ladies’ Christmas Party!!! Jill Canning and her choir gave a fabulous rendition of her now infamous 12 Days of Christmas! Ladies’ Captain Cathy Steele had some important thank yous to make: to Santa aka Keith Heppenstall who took time out of his busy schedule to join the Ladies in delivering Secret Santa presents…to Martin Hope for the loan of his buggy..(you had to be there!!)…to Karolina and her bar and waiting team for looking after everyone so well…and to Terry the night porter for delivering three ladies back to their Lodge for their overnight stay! Cathy was completely overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness and thrilled with her Alan Hunt “Sundowners” framed picture from the Ladies’ section, which already has pride of place in her hallway.

Ladies’ Vice Captain for 2016 announced

2016 Ladies’ Captain Susie Ellis is delighted to announce that Annie McCulloch had said yes to becoming her Vice-Captain next year.  The news drew a rapturous applause from everyone at the Ladies’ Christmas Party as Annie is a well respected member of the Ladies’ section, and her knowledge will be invaluable, not only to Susie, but for the 2016 Mens’ Vice Captain James Ablett. Congratulations to Annie.

Turkey Trotters!

Last Wednesday saw 42 Ladies don their Christmas jumpers, trousers, socks and headwear in the annual Turkey Trot.  The weather behaved itself and all made it in for the obligatory post round mulled wine before the rain started.

The results were:
4th Place Bronze division  Hazel Hinch 31 points
3rd Place Bronze division Rosemary Thomas 32 points
2nd Place Bronze division Peggy Smith 33 points (countback)
1st Place Bronze division Sue Findlay 33 points

3rd Place Silver Division Annie McCulloch 34 points
2nd Place Silver Division Jacky Bayley 35 points (countback)
1st Place Silver Division Jill Cannings 35 points and overall winner

A fantastic result for everyone, especially winner Jill, but for Peggy, who broke her wrist at the beginning of this season, a great result…well done!

Last few games…and last few words

A pairs betterball is available to book by any lady who would like to play on Wednesday 23rd December, followed by a 3 ball waltz on Wednesday 30th December.  This will be Cathy’s last roll-up as Ladies’ Captain and she looks forward to seeing anyone who fancies a game to help walk off those excess Christmas chocolates!

Finally 2015 Ladies’ Captain Cathy Steele thanked everyone for the amazing support she has received during her Captaincy year; for playing in the roll-ups, playing in the matches, supporting the fundraising events and for all the kind words of encouragement and support.  She said “This year has truly been an absolute honour and privilege, one I will never forget. I wish Susie a wonderful year and hope she enjoys her time just as much as I have. This just leaves me to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to you and your families.”
