Greetham Valley Junior Jordan Burdall followed up wins in the Rutland Junior Open and Club Junior Championship with yet another sparkling performance in the September Midweek Medal. Jordan, playing off scratch, had a blistering round to finish with a 3 under par 69ine, he took the win and the lowest gross and was cut from point four to point one.
Handicap secretary Bernard Bell was second on count back with a net 69, he was cut to 15. Rory Ludbrook off 9 was cut to eight when he was placed third. Rory pushed Junior Captain Ryan Tarrant into fourth place on countback, they both shot a net 70.
To top off a good weekend for Jordan, Ian Poulter ‘s dad played at Greetham Valley on Sunday, spotted Jordan working behind the bar and congratulated him on his Junior Championship win with a few words of encouragement – well, that must have worked for his son!
The Seniors have had quite a good season and apart from the odd hiccough have won or halved more matches than they have lost this year. They lost away to Stoke Rochford Golf Club a week ago but put that right by beating them at home by five and a half to two and a half. They also beat Rutland Water Golf Club in the same week by four games to two. Seniors’ Captain Peter Macdonald Pearce said that winning is not as important as getting as many of the senior section playing in as many matches as possible and enjoying the experience. They have only three matches left this season, two at home and one away.
