Beginner ladies on course…

As a follow up to the ladies’ beginner six week course of lessons through the early part of this summer, we are getting together to play the Academy course this Friday evening (29th) at 6pm and then again on Friday 12th August. The idea is for the ladies to venture onto the course in a fun and relaxed format to make new golfing friends. We have seven names for this Friday leaving one space and on the 12th we have six names and space for two. The cost is £20 for the 9 hole session with tips from myself as we make our way around the course.

My trip to The Open at Troon on the Ayrshire Riviera was absolutely fantastic. I know that a few of our members also made the pilgrimage. Please feel free to pop into the shop and we can compare notes.  Let’s hope you were there on a slightly drier day than the Friday!

Having played the course just a few weeks ago myself, it was great to watch how it should really be done! It never ceases to amaze me just how good those guys are around the greens, particularly when they are short sided with banks to bump the ball into, or steep riveted bunker faces to pop the ball over to land softly on fast firm links greens. Stenson and Mickelson were on a different planet to the rest of the field that week. As popular as Phil is, it was great to see a European get his hands on the coveted Claret Jug. I’m afraid Rory’s putter let him down from five feet and in, his frustration really showed when he broke his fairway wood!

I’m just back and ready for some more golf instruction, having taken a lovely family break over on the East Coast of Scotland in the Kingdom of Fife in my favourite town, St. Andrews.
